Brooklyn, NY — In celebration of National Cannoli Day, New York State Senator Stephen T. Chan is bringing together some of New York City’s finest public servants for a friendly but fierce showdown at the First Annual Great Cannoli Challenge on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.
Representatives from the FDNY, NYPD, and DSNY, along with community challengers, will compete head-to-head in a timed cannoli-eating competition to determine who will earn the title of Brooklyn’s first Cannoli King or Cannoli Queen and take home the coveted Cannoli Crown.
While firefighters, police officers, and sanitation workers work together every day to keep New Yorkers safe, this time they will be competing for neighborhood bragging rights and the honor of representing their agency as the inaugural Cannoli Champion.
WHAT: The First Annual Great Cannoli Challenge
WHEN: Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at 4:00 PM
WHERE: Cannoli Plus Cafe
6903 New Utrecht Avenue
Brooklyn, NY 11228
The event is free and open to the public.
“As a retired NYPD Sergeant, I have always appreciated the dedication and professionalism of the men and women of the NYPD, FDNY, and DSNY,” said Senator Chan. “National Cannoli Day gives us a chance to put aside the daily challenges of public service and enjoy some friendly competition. The question is simple: Which agency will claim the Cannoli Crown?”
The winning contestant will be crowned Brooklyn’s first Cannoli Champion, and Senator Chan hopes the event will become an annual tradition celebrating National Cannoli Day while highlighting the public servants who work tirelessly for the community.
Residents are encouraged to come out, cheer for their favorite agency, support a local business, and witness what promises to be one of Brooklyn’s sweetest rivalries.
Will the firefighters out-eat the police? Will sanitation workers clean up the competition? Or will a community challenger pull off an upset?
On June 16, Brooklyn will find out
