Senator Chan Pushes SAVE NY Plan to Restore Common-Sense Leadership

Senator Chan Save NY

Senator Steve Chan joined members of the New York State Senate Republican Conference in unveiling “SAVE NY,” a comprehensive legislative agenda designed to combat one-party Democratic rule in Albany and restore affordability, public safety, and accountability across New York.

Introduced at the start of the 2026 legislative session, SAVE NY serves as the Senate Republican Conference’s roadmap to address the growing challenges facing families, seniors, workers, and small businesses across the state. Republican lawmakers argue that years of unchecked spending, rising taxes, burdensome regulations, and misguided public safety policies have made New York increasingly unaffordable and less safe.

The agenda focuses on four major priorities:

1. Affordability and Economic Opportunity
SAVE NY aims to lower the cost of living by advancing tax relief for middle-class families, freezing property taxes, eliminating state income taxes on tips and overtime pay, reducing housing costs, lowering utility expenses, and opposing costly climate mandates that drive up everyday expenses.

2. Public Safety and Quality of Life
The plan calls for stronger support for law enforcement, repealing cashless bail policies, restricting parole for violent offenders, reducing crime in public transit systems, and ensuring greater protections for crime victims.

3. Education and Parental Rights
SAVE NY supports fully funding schools, expanding educational opportunities for families, increasing school safety resources, protecting students from violence and antisemitism, and defending parental involvement in education.

4. Government Accountability
The agenda also pushes for reforms such as voter ID requirements, legislative term limits, responsible state spending, stronger oversight of taxpayer dollars, and solutions to ongoing mental health and substance abuse crises.

Across my district and the entire state, families continue to struggle with rising costs, high taxes, declining public safety, and no clear path to address any problems that we are facing every day. New Yorkers deserve a government that works for them, not against them. A government that protects families, not criminals. A government that makes life affordable, not impossible. I’ve spent my entire career fighting for my community, and in Albany this session, I will fight every single day to stop New York from collapsing under radical, reckless leadership,

By supporting SAVE NY, Senator Chan is standing alongside Senate Republicans to advance what they describe as a common-sense agenda focused on making New York more affordable, safer, and more accountable to the people it serves.
