Albany, NY — Following the Governor’s State of the State address, State Senator Steve Chan issued a response outlining concerns with the administration’s direction and calling for a renewed focus on accountability, affordability, and results for all New Yorkers.
While the Governor spoke at length about progress, many families across our state are still struggling with rising costs, limited economic mobility, and a government that too often promises more than it delivers,” Senator Chan said. “A State of the State address should not only celebrate achievements, it should confront the realities people face every day.
Senator Chan emphasized that despite optimistic rhetoric, key issues remain unresolved. He pointed to continued financial pressure on middle-class households, uneven economic recovery across communities, and a lack of measurable outcomes tied to major spending initiatives.
It’s the same talk, different year… The governor is not steering the ship. She is being steered by extremists, socialists, who are promising everything to everyone for free.
Senator Chan, in contrast, outlined a vision centered on fiscal responsibility, pragmatic governance, and bipartisan cooperation. He reiterated his commitment to policies that prioritize public safety, economic opportunity, and trust in government.
