Harckham Credits Local Law Enforcement for “Forward Thinking” and “Compassion”

Peekskill, NY – New York State Senator Pete Harckham released a short video today commending local law enforcement professionals for their “forward thinking” and “compassion.”

A transcript of the video is below:

“Over the past two weeks we have been having a series of frank discussions about systemic racisms in society, and in police work, in particular.

“New York responded with a sweeping package of accountability and transparency measures that will make all police departments statewide more accountable and transparent to their constituents. This, in turn, will help build trust between police officers and the communities they serve.

“But let’s make no mistake. Here in the Hudson Valley we are very fortunate to have excellent police departments, with forward thinking leaders and officers who police with compassion and sensitivity. I appreciate the hard work they do each and every day, and I thank them for their bravery and their service.”
