End Crippling Unscientific, Arbitrary Mandates

ALBANY - 04/28/21 -  Senator Peter Oberacker (R/C-Schenevus) today voted in favor of three concurrent resolutions ending emergency directives put in place by the governor.  Among the directives, a measure requiring patrons to purchase food with a drink at restaurants and bars.

"Today, the New York Senate took action to end three of the governor’s unscientific, arbitrary mandates - it's a good start," said Senator Peter Oberacker.  "My Senate Republican colleagues and I have been calling for these commonsense changes since the start of the year and this action is long overdue.

"I will continue to stand up for our residents and small business owners and press for real change. This piecemeal approach is unnecessary.   Let’s be decisive.  End the governor’s executive overreach, restore constitutional checks and balances, and do the job we were elected to do," Senator Oberacker concluded.
