State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, announced that he has secured a New York State Legislative Grant in the amount of $60,000 for Family Service League. The grant will go to further the work of the Iovino South Shore Family Center in Bay Shore and Children and Parents Together (CAPT).

"I am proud to support Family Service League," said Senator Johnson. " FSL’s work is critical in helping Long Island’s children and families achieve independence and self-esteem."

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently presented a New York State Legislative Resolution to the Babylon Rotary Club on the occasion of their 60th anniversary.

"So many in our community have been helped as a result of the work of the Babylon Rotary whose members continue to exemplify Rotary International’s motto "Service Above Self," said Senator Johnson. "I am pleased to recognize the Babylon Rotary as they reach this significant milestone."

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon) joined Senate Majority Leader Joseph L. Bruno and his colleagues this week in announcing a plan to double the size of direct property tax rebate checks for senior citizen homeowners. The Senate bill, which was introduced this week would return about $200 million to senior citizens. Funds for the increased senior rebate checks would come from higher-than-projected State revenues realized at end of the 2006-07 state fiscal year.

While there, Senator Johnson had the chance to congratulate Jenifer Chiodo whose art work of oak leaves was chosen among several entries to win a place on the official LIAA 2007 Arbor Day Poster. State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently addressed the community at the annual Bay Shore/Brightwaters Community Summit. Senator Johnson spoke to the community about the additional money he was able to secure for Bay Shore Schools this year’s budget. The budget provided Bay Shore with more than $36 million in total aid -- an increase of more than $1.8 million over last year and $1.4 million than was proposed by Governor Spitzer.

Callahan, a student at Suffolk Community College, was honored recently with the prestigious SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.

State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, recently stopped by the United Methodist Church in Babylon where he presented a New York State Senate Citation to Peter Vames of Babylon Village at Vames’ Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony. Vames, a member of Boy Scout Troop 1, was honored for achieving the rank of Eagle -- the highest rank that can be attained in the Boy Scouts of America.
