Sen. Malcolm Smith at Dobisky Visitor Center to announce capital funding for city’s top priority

$103,000 grant, secured by Foley, to go towards upgrading emergency communications system

WEST WINFIELD, 10/05/09 – Joined by members of the Unadilla Forks Volunteer Fire Company, Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that the 2009-2010 state budget includes, at his request, $20,000 to provide for essential emergency communication upgrades and equipment improvements for local first responders.

$20 million dollars dedicated for the renovation of the Grand Central Terminal for an employee lounge?! If improvements were needed, $20 million was not! 

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) and the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization will be joining thousands of people at a prayer vigil on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 12:00 noon in front of the Castle Clinton National Monument in New York City’s Battery Park.  This prayer rally has been organized by Radio Vision Cristiana, Int’l.

(Staten Island)— On September 3rd , State Senator Diane J. Savino held an unclaimed funds forum for seniors at the New Lane Senior Citizen Center, in conjunction with the New York State Comptroller’s office.   The workshop, part of a series of forums throughout the district, features a representative of the Comptroller’s office, who assists constituents in finding if they are entitled to unclaimed funds.

Savino and staff members handed out more than 500 back-to-school packets, filled with school supplies, to Coney Island school children on Wednesday, September 30th, at the South Brooklyn Youth Consortium, a youth organization that offers afterschool programs and job training.

“The federal funding provides a quick infusion of cash that will help farmers with the ongoing milk price crisis,” said Senator Seward.  “Now we need to continue to work toward a viable, long term solution that will reestablish our farming future in upstate New York.”
