The New York State Senate unanimously passed Senator Jose Peralta’s legislation that will include a space on applications for student loans and aid programs for enrollment in the Donate Life Registry. The bill (S.6196) will increase opportunities for New Yorkers to register as organ donors. New York State currently ranks second to last in the nation per capita when it comes to registered organ donors, this legislation aims to change that.

(Albany, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that his bill, S.2046 has passed the Senate. The bill would protect correctional employees by amending section 240.32 of the Penal Law which, would add saliva to the already existing list of fluids and adds intentionally expectorating to the list of actions. S.2046 would provide that such behavior would be classified as aggravated harassment of an employee.
