ALBANY — A Brooklyn senator is tired of his constituents being kept in the dark when it comes to crippling blackouts and the overall state of the city’s power grid.
Sen. Andrew Gounardes, a Democrat representing a swath of south Brooklyn stretching from Bay Ridge and Dyker Heights to Manhattan Beach and Marine Park, is calling for public hearings in the wake of widespread power outages that left thousands without electricity during the hottest days of the year.
(Buffalo, NY) – New York State Senator Chris Jacobs announced today that he has introduced legislation that would rescind New York State’s Green Light bill that gives driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. There was bi-partisan opposition to the legislation that barely passed by a vote of 33-29 late in the legislative session. Despite admitting that he had concerns about the legal ramifications of the bill, Governor Cuomo quickly signed it into law.
As Oswego’s 32nd annual Harborfest kicks off, State Senator Patty Ritchie is announcing she has secured funding to help promote the four-day event, which is expected to attract more than 100,000 people to the Port City.

Albany, NY…Today, Governor Cuomo signed into law legislation sponsored by Senator Jen Metzger and Assembly Member Aileen Gunther to rename the portion of State Highway 97 that crosses the Basket Creek in the town of Fremont as the "Specialist Allan Milk Memorial Bridge." Allan Arlyn Milk, an Army Specialist who grew up in Fremont, served in the United States Army in Company B, 5th Battalion, 7th Cavalry, 1st Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War.
Long Islanders have a love affair with the water. It’s all around us, and most of the time it is fun and harmless.
But sometimes it’s not, a point driven home by recent events. On one weekend earlier this month, two women died and four other people were hospitalized following offshore boating accidents. This past weekend, a Sag Harbor man was charged with boating while intoxicated after crashing his boat at a North Haven dock, sending himself and two passengers to hospitals for treatment.
