Nathan Szpilzinger

Nathan Szpilzinger enlisted in the United States Army. He achieved the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Szpilzinger was born in a Displaced Persons Camp on September 8, 1946, in Cassel, Germany, following the destruction and atrocities of the Holocaust.
In 1951, Mr. Szpilzinger arrived in the United States of America. He, along with his relatives, settled in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Bedford-Stuyvesant. He attended the United Lubavitcher Yeshiva when he was a child, from 1951-1963.
In 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army and headed off to join the efforts in Vietnam. For his bravery and service, he was awarded the Joint Services Commendation Medal.
Upon returning from Vietnam, Mr. Szpilzinger met and married his dear wife, Chaya, and once again settled in Brooklyn, where they raised their family. In 1968, he signed up to join the New York Guard State Volunteer Force.
Mr. Szpilzinger is a staunch advocate and has spent many years in public service helping his local community. For 15 years, he served as District Director for a Member of Congress who represented New York’s 11th Congressional District.
A distinguished member of the United States Chaplain Corps, Mr. Szpilzinger has been dispatched to assist in catastrophic situations and disasters to offer support and comfort. In this role, he has also been at the forefront of coordinating relief for those in the worst situations imaginable.
Mr. Szpilzinger and his wife, Chaya, have three children. They are the proud grandparents of 14 grandchildren and a great-grandchild, whom they love dearly.
