Kenneth Woods served in the United States Army and achieved the rank of First Sergeant.

As an Army soldier, he retired after 20 years of dedicated service to our great Nation. He served in various capacities, including as a Field Artillery Man, a Recruiter, and then First Sergeant. In 1998, Mr. Woods was on a special duty assignment, serving in Guantanamo Bay.

During his 20-year career, he received numerous awards for his valor and service, including five Meritorious Service Medals, six Army Commendation Medals, and six Army Achievement Medals.

Mr. Woods is passionate about teaching and inspiring the next generation. He has worked as a Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) officer for over 12 years, helping guide and influence over 1,900 students across Long Island. His dedication to his country and the students he encounters is unparalleled.

As Commander of VFW Post 361 in Wyandanch, he selflessly dedicates his time to help the veteran community. Mr. Woods has spearheaded several programs and initiatives, including National Night Out, and hosting financial literacy programs, first-time homebuyer classes, and an afterschool program for students to have a quiet, safe place to study and receive homework assistance.

Mr. Woods is a role model for all and a respected leader in the community; he is well known for his devotion to those in need.

He is happily married to Suzan Barrett-Woods and has two sons, Keyshawn and Kevon, who are both on active duty in the Army.
