Title:  Joint Hearing on MTA & Gubernatorial Nominee for Chair & CEO

Subject and Purpose:  Governor Paterson nominated Mr. Jay Walder to act as Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority. Any such nominee must be confirmed by the state Senate. MTA’s next Chair and CEO will come on board at one of the most difficult junctures in the agency’s history. This hearing will provide the public and members of the Senate with an opportunity to hear from Mr. Walder. It will also provide the public an opportunity to weigh in on the nomination and any other issues relevant to the MTA. The Senate seeks to work with the MTA to foster a new, fiscally sound and transparent agency that improves service and restores public trust.
