SENATE BANKING AND CODES COMMITTEES TAKE ON MORTGAGE FRAUD IN NEW YORK STATE

As FBI identifies New York State as a top mortgage fraud state, joint committee holds hearing to assess damage done and prevent future fraud

(SYRACUSE, N.Y.)—In a continuing effort to bring Central New York-specific issues to the forefront of the New York State Senate, Senator David J. Valesky (D-Oneida) hosted Senator Eric Schneiderman (D-Manhattan/Bronx), chairman of the Senate Codes Committee, for a day of events in Madison and Onondaga counties.   “The Senate Codes Committee deals with law enforcement and criminal justice related legislation, which impact communities and constituents across Central New York,” said Senator Valesky, Vice President Pro-Tempore of the Senate.

"It is an historic day for New York and the nation now that President Obama has nominated Judge Sotomayor to the Supreme Court. A native of the South Bronx who has served as a federal judge, prosecutor and litigator, Judge Sotomayor is a brilliant, independent jurist who is uniquely qualified to serve on the highest court. Once she becomes the first Latina and only third woman to serve on the Court, Judge Sotomayor will bring a new, much-needed perspective to the bench.
