BILL NUMBER:S4872

TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to providing an exemption for the
Nanuet County school district from certain requirements regarding valu-
ation of the aggregate non-homestead tax share assessment; and providing
for the repeal of such provisions upon expiration thereof

PURPOSE OF THE BILL:

This bill would exempt the Nanuet school district from certain
provisions in the real property tax law.

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

Section 1 of this bill provides that the Nanuet School district, located
in Rockland County, shall not be subject to the provisions on subpara-
graph (ii) of paragraph (c) of subdivision 4 of section 1903-a of the
real property tax law.

Section 2 of this bill relates to the effective date.

JUSTIFICATION:

This bill would exempt the Nanuet School District from a requirement to
have no more than 57.5% of non-homestead property in one town. The
school district will need to temporarily surpass this threshold due to a
large tax certiorari in one of the towns in the school district.

PRIOR LEGISLATIVE HISTORY:

New bill.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS FOR STATE:

None.

EFFECTIVE DATE:

This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be deemed
repealed June 30, 2023.
