MONIES TO BE USED TO RELOCATE RECREATION CENTER AND EXPAND POLICE DEPARTMENT

Senator John Bonacic announces that the City of Port Jervis has been awarded $100,000 in funding from the Municipal Facilities Program.

The monies will provide the city with the ability to upgrade municipal buildings, and move the recreation center to a location closer to their city park, and also to allow for a much needed expansion of the Police Department.

“On behalf of the residents of the City of Port Jervis,” said Mayor Kelly Decker, “I would like to thank Senator John Bonacic for securing $100,000 that will allow the city to move its youth recreation center off of a busy street in the heart of downtown Port Jervis to a remodeled city-owned building close to our Church Street park. Many of the city’s outside youth activities take place at that location and putting the center there is the most logical choice. In addition, these funds will also help expand the square footage of the city’s police department which has been steadily growing out of its quarters in city hall for the last 40 years.”

“I am so pleased to help the city of Port Jervis make these necessary improvements and expansions to their municipal services and police department,” said Senator Bonacic. “This will allow the city police to service their residents more efficiently, and allow for a more practical location for their recreation center.”
