Local Event to be Held at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center
Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) is pleased to join with The Greater Hudson Valley Family Health Center, Mount Saint Mary College and the Newburgh Armory Unity Center to offer a National Memory Screening Event. This event will be held at the Newburgh Armory Unity Center on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. and is free of charge. Walk-ins will be accepted based on availability but pre-registration is recommended. Please call 845-220-3167 to register for a screening.
“I urge everyone who is concerned about possible memory loss to attend this event and have a free memory screening,” said Senator Larkin. “This confidential screening will give you the opportunity to speak with a trained professional who will perform the memory screening and answer any questions you might have regarding memory loss. There will also be information on Alzheimer’s disease and other causes of memory loss, as well as resources available for those who would like further information.”
“Memory loss impacts so many of us as we age,” said GHVFHC President & CEO, Linda S. Muller. “The collaboration between GHVFHC, Senator Bill Larkin, Mount Saint Mary College, and the Newburgh Armory Unity Center is highly important. As the baby-boomer population continues to grow in our community, it is critical to identify the causes of memory loss and the available resources for our patients.”
National Memory Screening Day is an annual initiative of the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America that emphasizes the importance of proper detection and treatment of memory problems, as well as educates the public about successful aging and resources.
