Senator Serrano and the Department of Education announced the addition of 54 "Pre-K For All" slots for children on Roosevelt Island. "Pre-K For All" gives children stronger math and reading skills in elementary school and a better chance at success in life. Studies show that early childhood education improves performance throughout a child's school experience. In these high-quality programs, children develop and learn how to interact with others, share, wait their turns, and listen.
"Pre-K is an excellent way to prepare children for kindergarten by providing the proper foundation to future education experience. I believe that increased access to Pre-K will change the way children view education and help them discover the joy of learning. This is a great opportunity to provide future generations with the opportunity to develop various skills at a young age. Many thanks to the Department of Education for helping secure these additional seats for Roosevelt Island and giving more children the tools needed to succeed later on."
