Senator Gallivan Applauds Funding for NY Parks 2020 Improvement Projects

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) is applauding $90 million in state funding for revitalization and rehabilitation projects at State parks and historic sites across New York. The funding is part of the 2018-19 State Budget and includes over $2.1 million for Letchworth State Park.

"New York is home to some of the best state parks in the country, none more beautiful than Letchworth, the Grand Canyon of the East,” Gallivan said. “However, our parks are also among the oldest and in need of repair and rehabilitation. These projects will enhance the experience for park visitors, improve safety and support tourism at Letchworth and other state parks and historic sites throughout the state.”

Funding for Letchworth State Park includes:

$950,000 to rehabilitate the Lower Falls pool area
$500,000 to rehabilitate Trout Pond and Dam
$350,000 to relocate the historic CCC St. Helena Shelter
$275,000 for Phase 1 rehabilitation of the Glen Iris Inn
$100,000 for gate automation

The projects are part of the NY Parks 2020 plan, a multi-year commitment to revitalize the state park system. The Governor and Legislature committed $90 million to the effort in the 2018-19 State Budget.
