Breast Cancer Screening Program- North Merrick

New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick), in conjunction with NuHealth/Nassau Health Care Corporation, will be sponsoring a breast cancer screening program on Thursday, August 18th from 8:45 am to 12:00 pm at the North Merrick Library. The library is located at 1691 Meadowbrook Road in North Merrick.
Appointments are necessary and will be scheduled on first-come, first-served basis. On site nurses and technici...ans will provide a mammography, a clinical breast examination and instructions for self examination. Patients and their physicians will be notified of the exam results.
NuHealth’s guidelines for the program are as follows:
* The program is open to all Nassau County women ages 40 and over.
* Women covered by insurance, Medicaid or Medicare will have their carrier billed and must bring their information card to the screening. Nassau Health Care Corporation policy now requires patients to be responsible for any co-pays charged by their carrier.
* Women ages 40 and older without health insurance will not incur any out-of-pocket costs.
Women who would like to take advantage of the screening program should call Senator Fuschillo’s office at (516) 882-0630 to make an appointment.
