State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. and Senator Roxanne J. Persaud are bringing a free paper shredding event to Howard Beach on August 29, 2026.

Paper and documents will be professionally shredded at St. Helen’s Church parking lot at 157th Avenue and 84th Street from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and people can see the process from a little window on the shredding truck.

“Building on the success of my previous shredding and recycling events both with my colleagues in government and solo, I’m pleased to offer constituents another opportunity to securely and safely dispose of their personal documents,” Addabbo said. “Ensuring that sensitive information such as social security numbers and account details are properly shredded and recycled is of utmost importance to protect your privacy and security.”

Papers that cannot be shredded are cardboard, newspapers, file folders and metals or plastics. There is a (3) copy box maximum limit to allow all participants to have their materials shredded. Only personal files are allowed; no business or commercial files will be shredded.
