Addabbo, Persaud, and Pheffer Amato To Host Free Paper Shredding Event in Howard Beach

As a way to help their constituents clear out files and properly dispose of personal papers, State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., Senator Roxanne J. Persaud, and Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato are bringing a free paper shredding event to Howard Beach.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, paper and documents will be professionally and securely shredded at St. Helen’s Church parking lot, located at the corner of 157th Avenue and 84th Street between 12 noon and 2 p.m. Attendees can even watch the process through a small window on the shredding truck.

“Building on the success of my previous shredding and recycling events both with my colleagues in government and solo, I’m pleased to offer constituents another opportunity to securely and safely dispose of their personal documents,” Addabbo said. “Ensuring that sensitive information such as social security numbers and account details is properly shredded and recycled is of utmost importance to protect your privacy and security.”

Items that cannot be shredded during this event include any cardboard, newspapers, file folders, and metals or plastics. There will be a maximum (3) copy box limit on how much can be shredded per person to ensure that all participants have the opportunity to shred their materials. Only personal files can be shredded, no business or commercial files.

"I’m always proud to partner with my colleagues to bring this shredding event to the community,” Persaud said. “Properly disposing of personal documents through shredding is essential for protecting sensitive information and promoting a cleaner, greener environment through responsible recycling."

“Paper shredding events are one of the most sought-after events our constituents ask for,” said Assemblywoman Pheffer Amato. “We all accumulate so much paper and documents over the years; and by providing this invaluable resource to our community, we are working to make sure that we all have a proper and protected way to dispose of our information.”
