Senator to Host Puppetmobile Event Celebrating Pippi Longstocking

Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. is proud to partner with the City Parks Foundation to bring their PuppetMobile performance of Pippi Longstocking to Painters Playground (adjacent to PS 174 in Rego Park) at 65-30 Dieterle Crescent on Thursday, May 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.

The show, which is free and open to the public, is based on Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren and marks the 80th anniversary of the children’s book, whose iconic protagonist promotes independence and self-assurance.

The PuppetMobile is a traveling marionette theater featuring nearly two dozen handcrafted marionettes created by expert puppeteers. The show presents a fresh adaptation of the traditional Swedish tale about Pippi who uses her intelligence and strength to defeat bullies while defying conventional social rules.

“This event is a wonderful opportunity for children and families to experience the magic of storytelling and celebrate a timeless character who inspires independence and confidence,” Addabbo said. “I’m looking forward to bringing this program to the community and seeing the happiness it brings to the youth.”
