AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to the residence of
  members of the auto trades employed by a city with a population of one
  million or more

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a
new subdivision 2-e to read as follows:
  2-E. NEITHER THE PROVISIONS OF  THIS  SECTION,  NOR  OF  ANY  GENERAL,
SPECIAL  OR  LOCAL  LAW,  CHARTER,  CODE, ORDINANCE, RESOLUTION, RULE OR
REGULATION, REQUIRING A PERSON TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE POLITICAL  SUBDI-
VISION  OR  MUNICIPAL  CORPORATION  OF  THE  STATE BY WHICH HE OR SHE IS
EMPLOYED, SHALL APPLY TO A PERSON EMPLOYED BY A CITY WITH  A  POPULATION
OF  ONE  MILLION  OR  MORE WHO WORKS IN THE TITLE OF AUTO MECHANIC, AUTO
BODY WORKER, AUTO MACHINIST, ELECTRICIAN (AUTOMOBILE), OR A  SIMILAR  OR
SUBSTANTIALLY  EQUIVALENT  TITLE  AND WHO RESIDES IN A COUNTY WITHIN THE
STATE CONTIGUOUS TO SUCH MUNICIPALITY.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.

have become a law.

CARRIAGE UPHOLSTERER AND WHO RESIDES IN THE CITY  OF  NEW  YORK  OR  THE
COUNTY OF NASSAU, WESTCHESTER, SUFFOLK, ORANGE, ROCKLAND OR PUTNAM.
  S  2.  This  act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall
