BILL NUMBER:S7947 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of state route 32 as the Trooper David J. Lane Memorial Highway PURPOSE: The purpose of the legislation is to designate a portion of the State Route 32 as the "Trooper David J. Lane Memorial Highway." SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 amends the Highway Law by adding a new Section 342-uu providing that a 2.1 mile portion of the state highway system, constituting State Route 32 between Cairo Junction Road and Hearts Content Road in Greene County, shall be designated and known as the "Trooper David J. Lane Memorial Highway." Section 2 of the bill states that the commissioner of transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system. The designation of this highway shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.

Lane Memorial Highway THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-uu to read as follows: S 342-UU. PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "TROOPER DAVID J. LANE MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". ALL THAT PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM CONSTITUTING STATE ROUTE THIRTY-TWO BETWEEN CAIRO JUNCTION ROAD AND HEARTS CONTENT ROAD IN GREENE COUNTY SHALL BE DESIG- NATED AND KNOWN AS THE TROOPER DAVID J. LANE MEMORIAL HIGHWAY. S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
