AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to enabling county jails
  to utilize space within the jail for electronic  identification  proc-
  essing

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Section 500-a of the correction law is amended by adding  a
new subdivision 4 to read as follows:
  4.  NOTWITHSTANDING  ANY  OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, A COUNTY JAIL MAY BE
USED FOR THE ELECTRONIC ACQUISITION AND TRANSMISSION OF FINGERPRINT  AND
OTHER  IDENTIFICATION  RECORDS  PURSUANT TO ARTICLE ONE HUNDRED SIXTY OF
THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE LAW.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
