Introduced  by Sen. HASSELL-THOMPSON -- (at request of the State Commis-
  sion of Correction) -- read twice and ordered printed, and when print-
  ed to be committed to  the  Committee  on  Crime  Victims,  Crime  and
  Correction

AN ACT to amend the correction law, in relation to enabling county jails
  to  utilize  space within the jail for electronic identification proc-
  essing

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1. Section 500-a of the correction law is amended by adding a
new subdivision 4 to read as follows:
  4. NOTWITHSTANDING ANY OTHER PROVISION OF LAW, A COUNTY  JAIL  MAY  BE
USED  FOR THE ELECTRONIC ACQUISITION AND TRANSMISSION OF FINGERPRINT AND
OTHER IDENTIFICATION RECORDS PURSUANT TO ARTICLE ONE  HUNDRED  SIXTY  OF
THE CRIMINAL PROCEDURE LAW.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
