S T A T E O F N E W Y O R K ________________________________________________________________________ 7779 2009-2010 Regular Sessions I N A S S E M B L Y April 23, 2009 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. ROSENTHAL -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the duties of the municipal police training council THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 840 of the executive law is amended by adding two new paragraphs (k) and (m) to read as follows: (K) DEVELOPMENT, MAINTENANCE AND DISSEMINATION OF WRITTEN POLICIES AND PROCEDURES PURSUANT TO ARTICLE TWENTY-SIX OF THE AGRICULTURE AND MARKETS LAW, SECTION 352.3 OF THE FAMILY COURT ACT AS IT APPLIES TO COMPANION ANIMALS, AND APPLICABLE PROVISIONS OF THE PENAL LAW, REGARDING THE INVESTIGATION AND PREVENTION OF ANY ACT OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. (M) ESTABLISHMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION ON AN ONGOING BASIS, OF A TRAIN- ING PROGRAM FOR ALL CURRENT AND NEW POLICE OFFICERS AND PEACE OFFICERS REGARDING THE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES ESTABLISHED PURSUANT TO PARAGRAPH (K) OF THIS SUBDIVISION.
