AN ACT to amend the county law, in relation to the minimum annual salary
  of the county clerks of certain counties

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1. Subdivision 2 of section 908 of the county law, as amended
by chapter 614 of the laws of 1978, is amended to read as follows:
  2. Each of the county clerks of the counties comprising  the  city  of
New  York  shall  receive  an annual salary of not less than the MINIMUM
ANNUAL compensation received by a [judge] JUSTICE of the [civil] SUPREME
court of the [city] STATE of New York ELECTED  FROM  THE  SAME  JUDICIAL
DISTRICT  IN  WHICH  THE  COUNTY  FOR  WHICH  THE COUNTY CLERK SERVES IS
LOCATED.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
