BILL NUMBER: S2190 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the county law, in relation to the minimum annual salary of the county clerks of certain counties PURPOSE : Adjusts the salary of each of the county clerks of the counties comprising the City of New York to not less than the minimum annual compensation received by a Justice of the Supreme Court of the State of New York elected from the same judicial district in which the county for which the county clerk serves is located. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Amends Section 908 of the county law. JUSTIFICATION : This bill adjusts the statutory minimum salary of each of the County Clerks in New York City to equal the salary of a Supreme Court Justice of the State of New York in the same judicial district in which the county for which the county clerk serves is located. This change would more accurately reflect the fact that the current annual salary of such county clerks is approximately the same as Justices of the Supreme Court. LEGISLATIVE HISTORY :
