AN  ACT  to  authorize  the  village of Ocean Beach in Suffolk county to
  appoint James Albanese to a full-time competitive police officer posi-
  tion

  THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND  ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section  1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of section 58 of the civil
service law, the village of Ocean Beach  in  Suffolk  county  is  hereby
authorized and directed, upon the approval of the village board of trus-
tees,  to  appoint   James Albanese, who is currently a part-time police
officer for the village of Ocean Beach police department, to a full-time
competitive position as a police officer with the police  department  of
such  village,  provided  that there exists no other viable applicant on
the eligible list.
  S 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
