BILL NUMBER: S7778 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend part B of chapter 58 of the laws of 2005, amending the public health law and other laws relating to implementing the state fiscal plan for the 2005-2006 state fiscal year, in relation to the expiration of certain provisions thereof PURPOSE : This bill would extend authorization of the Transitional Care Unit (TCU) Demonstration Program. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : This bill extends expiration of transitional care unit (TCU) demonstration program until enactment of the 2010--11 Budget. The State currently operates five TCU demonstrations programs in selected hospitals. TCU's are authorized to provide post acute skilled nursing services to elderly patients otherwise eligible for nursing home levels of care and receive a Medicare per diem reimbursement. Subdivision 2 of section 105 of part B of chapter 58 of the laws of 2005, amending the public health law and other laws relating to implementing the state fiscal plan for the 2005-2006 state fiscal year, is amended to read as follows: 2. Section eighty-seven of this act shall expire and be deemed repealed [five years from the date on which it shall have become a law] UPON ENACTMENT OF LEGISLATION CONSTITUTING THE 2010--2011 BUDGET; S 2. This act shall take effect immediately, and shall be deemed to have been in full force and effect on and after April 12, 2010.
