AN ACT to amend the education law, in relation  to  the  employment  and
  supervision of physician assistants

  THE  PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM-
BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  Section 1. Subdivisions 3 and 5 of section 6542 of the education  law,
as  amended  by  chapter  48 of the laws of 2012, are amended to read as
follows:
  3. No physician shall employ or supervise more than [two]  SIX  physi-
cian assistants AT ANY ONE TIME in his or her private practice.
  5.  Notwithstanding any other provision of this article, nothing shall
prohibit a physician employed by or rendering services to the department
of corrections and community supervision under contract from supervising
no more than [four] SIX physician assistants AT ANY ONE TIME in  his  or
her  practice  for  the  department  of corrections and community super-
vision.
  S 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
ing  the date on which it shall have become a law; provided that, effec-
tive immediately, any rules and regulations necessary to  implement  the
provisions of this act on its effective date are authorized to be added,
amended and/or repealed on or before such date.
