BILL NUMBER:S6217 TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to village justices in the incorporated village of North Hills, county of Nassau PURPOSE: In the event that the village of North Hills has two village justices it may provide for an additional acting village justice or in the event that North Hills has one village justice, it may provide for two acting village justices. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section one authorizes that notwithstanding any inconsistent provisions of any other general or special law, in the event the incorporated village of North Hills, county of Nassau, has two village justices, it may also by resolution or local law, provide for an additional acting village justice or in the event such village has one village justice, it may also by resolution or local law, provide for two acting village justices Section two is the effective date. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provisions of any other general or special law, in the event the incorporated village of North Hills, county of Nassau, has two village justices, it may also by resol- ution or local law, provide for an additional acting village justice or in the event such village has one village justice, it may also by resol- ution or local law, provide for two acting village justices. MARTINS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Local Government -- reported favorably from said committee, ordered to first and second report, ordered to a third reading, amended and ordered reprinted, retaining its place in the order of third reading AN ACT in relation to authorizing the village of North Hills in the county of Nassau to establish a second acting village justice THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 3-301 of the village law, the village of North Hills, in the county of Nassau, is hereby authorized to adopt a local law or resolution, subject to permissive referendum, to establish a second acting village justice, who shall be appointed and whose duties shall be determined pursuant to paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 3-301 of the village law.
