BILL NUMBER:S4752 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a certain portion of state route 20A the "Livingston County Veterans Memorial Highway" PURPOSE: This bill would designate a portion of State Route 20A, running from I-390 westerly to the county line, as the "Livingston County Veterans Memorial Highway". SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. The Highway Law is amended by adding a new section 342-xxxx to create a Livingston County Veterans Memorial Highway JUSTIFICATION: Livingston County has a rich history of its residents serving the United States in our nation's armed conflicts - at home or abroad. This legislation is a tribute to their selfless contribution to these past and current struggles; it is one small way of expressing a special thanks for Livingston County veterans' courage, camaraderie, patriotism and unfailing martial spirit.

GALLIVAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a certain portion of state route 20A the "Livingston County Veterans Memorial Highway" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 342-xxxx to read as follows: S 342-XXXX. PORTION OF STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "LIVINGSTON COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". THAT PORTION OF STATE ROUTE 20A LOCATED WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF LIVINGSTON FROM THE INTERSECTION OF STATE HIGHWAY ROUTE I-390 CONTINUING WESTERLY TO THE COUNTY LINE SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "LIVINGSTON COUNTY VETERANS MEMORIAL HIGHWAY". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such highway shall not be changed as a result of this act.
