BILL NUMBER: S6334 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the public officers law, in relation to qualifications for holding the office of comptroller in the city of Rye in Westchester county PURPOSE : This legislation relates to qualifications for holding the office of comptroller in the city of Rye in Westchester county SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a new subdivision 65 to read as follows: 65. In the city of Rye, Westchester county, the provisions of this section requiring a person to be a resident of the political subdivision or municipal corporation of the state for which he or she shall be chosen or within which his or her official functions are required to be exercised and the provisions requiring a person to be a resident of the state, shall not prevent a person from holding the office of comptroller of the city of Rye; provided, however, the person performing the function of comptroller in any other city shall be a resident of such city, unless otherwise provided by law.

LATIMER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Investigations and Govern- ment Operations AN ACT to amend the public officers law, in relation to qualifications for holding the office of comptroller in the city of Rye in Westches- ter county THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 3 of the public officers law is amended by adding a new subdivision 65 to read as follows: 65. IN THE CITY OF RYE, WESTCHESTER COUNTY, THE PROVISIONS OF THIS SECTION REQUIRING A PERSON TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE POLITICAL SUBDIVISION OR MUNICIPAL CORPORATION OF THE STATE FOR WHICH HE OR SHE SHALL BE CHOSEN OR WITHIN WHICH HIS OR HER OFFICIAL FUNCTIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE EXERCISED AND THE PROVISIONS REQUIRING A PERSON TO BE A RESIDENT OF THE STATE, SHALL NOT PREVENT A PERSON FROM HOLDING THE OFFICE OF COMPTROLLER OF THE CITY OF RYE; PROVIDED, HOWEVER, THE PERSON PERFORMING THE FUNC- TION OF COMPTROLLER IN ANY OTHER CITY SHALL BE A RESIDENT OF SUCH CITY, UNLESS OTHERWISE PROVIDED BY LAW.
