BILL NUMBER: S6368 Revised 05/05/16 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Sergeant Kevin W. White Memorial Bridge" PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : To designate a bridge on U.S. Route 20, between Oak street and South Portage street, in the town of Westfield, County of Chautauqua, as the "Sergeant Kevin W. White Memorial Bridge." SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1. Adds a new subdivision (e) to Section 344 of the highway law designating the bridge on U.S. Route 20, between Oak street and South Portage street, in the town of Westfield, county of Chautauqua, as the "Sergeant Kevin W. White Memorial Bridge." Section 2. Provides that the Commissioner of the Department of Transportation shall provide for the installation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act.

YOUNG -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to designating a portion of the state highway system as the "Sergeant Kevin W. White Memorial Bridge" THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The highway law is amended by adding a new section 344-e to read as follows: S 344-E. PORTION OF THE STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM TO BE DESIGNATED AS THE "SERGEANT KEVIN W. WHITE MEMORIAL BRIDGE". THE BRIDGE ON U.S. ROUTE TWENTY, BETWEEN OAK STREET AND SOUTH PORTAGE STREET, IN THE TOWN OF WESTFIELD, COUNTY OF CHAUTAUQUA, SHALL BE DESIGNATED AND KNOWN AS THE "SERGEANT KEVIN W. WHITE MEMORIAL BRIDGE". S 2. The commissioner of transportation shall provide for the instal- lation and maintenance of adequate signing of the state highway system as designated pursuant to section one of this act. However, to avoid confusion and to limit any possible disruption of commerce, the desig- nation called for pursuant to section one of this act shall be one of ceremonial nature and the official name of such bridge shall not be changed as a result of this act.
