BILL NUMBER: S6891 TITLE OF BILL : An act to authorize the city of New York to discontinue the use as city parkland of Christopher Park in the borough of Manhattan and to convey the city's interest in the real property to the United States for park, monument, historic, or recreational purposes PURPOSE OF BILL : This bill will allow New York City to convey its interest in the city parkland of Christopher Park to the United States, so that the parkland may be operated and maintained by the National Park Service. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1: Authorizes the city of New York to convey its interest in parkland of Christopher Park to the United States to be used for park, monument, historic, or recreational purposes, pursuant to terms and conditions agreed upon by the National Park Service and the city of New York. Section 2: Defines the metes and bounds of the parkland authorized to be conveyed by the city of New York to the United States pursuant to section one of this act.

HOYLMAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to authorize the city of New York to discontinue the use as city parkland of Christopher Park in the borough of Manhattan and to convey the city's interest in the real property to the United States for park, monument, historic, or recreational purposes THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The city of New York, acting through the commissioner of parks and recreation of such city, is hereby authorized to discontinue the use as city parkland of Christopher Park in the borough of Manhat- tan, described in section two of this act, and to convey its interest in the real property to the United States, upon terms and conditions agreed upon by the National Park Service and the city of New York provided that the United States uses such land, for park, monument, historic, or recreational purposes. Any revenues received by the city of New York from the conveyance of parkland authorized by this act shall be used for capital improvements to existing city park and recreational purposes and/or for the acquisition of additional city park and recreational facilities. S 2. The parkland authorized to be conveyed by the city of New York to the United States pursuant to section one of this act is the following: ALL that certain plot, piece or parcel of land, with all the buildings and improvements thereon erected, situate, lying and being in the Borough of Manhattan, City and State of New York, bounded and described as follows: BEGINNING at the intersection of the northwesterly side of Grove Street and southeasterly side of Christopher Street; RUNNING THENCE southwesterly along the southeasterly side of Christo- pher Street a distance of 200.93 feet to a point on the intersection with the easterly side of Seventh Avenue; THENCE southerly along the easterly side of Seventh Avenue a distance of 11.00 feet to the intersection with the northeasterly side of West Fourth Street; EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
