BILL NUMBER: S6915 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the mental hygiene law, in relation to eligibility for dependents of military service members for certain developmental disability services PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : To allow for a dependant of a military service member to retain eligibility for service regardless of leaving the State as long as they retain residency and remain eligible for service. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1 amends mental hygiene law to allow for a dependant of a military service member who is a legal resident of this state, previously determined to be eligible for developmental disability services to retain eligibility for those services as long as they remain a legal resident of the state. Also allows a dependant who resides out-of-state to be placed on the waiting list for services if they left the state due to the military service member's military assignment.
