BILL NUMBER: S7406 TITLE OF BILL : An act to require the director of the classification and compensation division of the civil service department to establish various classifications for nurse practitioners PURPOSE : Establishes several classifications for nurse practitioners that is proportional to their education, experience, duties and certifications and the appropriate salary grade allocation of such positions. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section 1 requires the director of the classification and compensation division of the civil service department to classify different positions for nurse practitioners, and allocate appropriate salary grades for such positions according to board certification, job duties, education and experience levels of such nurse practitioners. Section 2 is the effective date. JUSTIFICATION : There is ample evidence behind the invaluable contributions of nurse practitioners (NPs) to our state's health care. NPs provide

HANNON -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Civil Service and Pensions AN ACT to require the director of the classification and compensation division of the civil service department to establish various classi- fications for nurse practitioners THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The director of the classification and compensation divi- sion of the civil service department shall classify various positions for nurse practitioners, as licensed by section 6910 of the education law, and shall allocate appropriate salary grades for such positions according to the board certification, job duties, education and experi- ence levels of such nurse practitioners.
