HEVESI -- read once and referred to the Committee on Governmental Operations AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to the establishment of a human trafficking hotline THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The executive law is amended by adding a new section 75 to read as follows: S 75. HUMAN TRAFFICKING HOTLINE. 1. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SHALL ESTAB- LISH AND MAINTAIN A TWENTY-FOUR HOUR TOLL-FREE STATEWIDE HOTLINE NUMBER FOR USE IN THE INVESTIGATION AND PREVENTION OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. 2. CALLS MADE TO THE TOLL-FREE STATEWIDE HOTLINE SHALL BE ANONYMOUS. 3. THE ATTORNEY GENERAL SHALL REFER INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH THE STATEWIDE HOTLINE TO THE APPROPRIATE DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE WITH JURISDICTION IN THE MATTER. S 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after it shall have become a law. Effective immediately, the addition, amend- ment and/or repeal of any rule or regulation necessary for the implemen- tation of this act on its effective date is authorized to be made and completed on or before such effective date.
