BILL NUMBER: S6270 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the local finance law, in relation to authorizing and empowering the village of Amityville, county of Suffolk, to amortize the cost of payments to certain employees upon separation of service from the village PURPOSE : To allow the village of Amityville to amortize the cost of payments to employees upon separation of service from the village. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section one of this bill amends paragraph a of section 11.00 of the local finance law by adding a new subdivision 108 that empowers the village of Amityville to amortize accrued and accumulated but unused and unpaid sick leave, personal leave, holiday leave, vacation time, time allowances granted in lieu of overtime compensation and any other forms of payment for time earned by employees of the village of Amityville and payable to such employees upon separation of service from the village. The bill permits the village to amortize any such separation payments made by the village on or after January 1, 2015. Section two of this bill provides that this act shall take effect immediately.

Paragraph a of section 11.00 of the local finance law is amended by adding a new subdivision 108 to read as follows: 108. ANY PAYMENTS MADE ON OR AFTER JANUARY 1, 2015 BY THE VILLAGE OF AMITYVILLE, COUNTY OF SUFFOLK, TO EMPLOYEES UPON SEPARATION FROM EMPLOY- MENT, AS MAY BE APPROVED BY THE VILLAGE AND INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CASH PAYMENT FOR SEPARATION INCENTIVES AND/OR PAYMENT OF THE MONE- TARY VALUE OF ACCRUED AND ACCUMULATED BUT UNUSED AND UNPAID SICK LEAVE, PERSONAL LEAVE, HOLIDAY LEAVE, VACATION TIME, TIME ALLOWANCES GRANTED IN LIEU OF OVERTIME COMPENSATION AND ANY OTHER FORMS OF PAYMENT REQUIRED TO BE PAID TO SUCH EMPLOYEES UPON SEPARATION FROM EMPLOYMENT, TEN YEARS.
