BILL NUMBER: S7992 TITLE OF BILL : An act to authorize the Sag Harbor Union Free School District, Suffolk County, New York, to expend the proceeds of certain bonds issued by the district for an object or purpose that differs from the original object or purpose for which said bonds were issued PURPOSE : To authorize the District to submit one or more propositions to the voters for approval to spend the proceeds of the bonds, which were heretofore authorized and issued to fund a certain synthetic turf field project, for other objects or purposes described in the New York State Local Finance Law in lieu of using such proceeds to pay debt service on such bonds as required by the Local Finance Law. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : To authorize the District, subject to voter approval, to expend not to exceed $1,620,000 of bonds issued on February 25, 2016, to fund any other object or purpose set forth in section 11.00 (a) of the New York State Local Finance Law which has a period of probable usefulness of not to exceed thirty (30) years.

LAVALLE -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to authorize the Sag Harbor Union Free School District, Suffolk County, New York, to expend the proceeds of certain bonds issued by the district for an object or purpose that differs from the original object or purpose for which said bonds were issued THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Definition. For the purposes of this act, "district" shall mean the Sag Harbor Union Free School District, Suffolk County, New York. S 2. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary and subject to the approval of one or more propositions by a majority of the voters of the district voting thereon at one or more annual or special district meetings of the district, the district is hereby authorized to expend not to exceed $1,620,000 of the proceeds of bonds heretofore issued on February 25, 2016, to fund one or more objects or purposes described in paragraph (a) of section 11.00 of the local finance law, which has a period of probable usefulness of not to exceed 30 years, in lieu of expending such proceeds to fund a synthetic turf field, as originally contemplated and approved by the voters of the district. S 3. If any clause, sentence, paragraph, section or part of this act shall be adjudged by any court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair, or invalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation to the clause, sentence, paragraph, section, or part thereof directly involved in the controversy in which such judgment shall have been rendered.
