BILL NUMBER:S4666 TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the environmental conservation law, in relation to the taking of deer in the county of Suffolk PURPOSE: To extend the time period for the taking the deer by long bow in the County of Suffolk from December 31st until March 31st. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Amends Item (h) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of Section 11-0907 of the Environmental Conservation Law to extend the time period for the taking the deer by long bow in the County of Suffolk from December 31st until March 31st. JUSTIFICATION: The current long bow season for taking deer in Suffolk County, as regulated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, is from October 1st through December 31st. With the recent explosion of Suffolk County's deer population, communities and municipalities are looking for ways to expand hunting opportunities to help control the deer population. Item (h) of paragraph a of subdivision 2 of section 11-0907 of the environmental conservation law, as amended by section 14 of part EE of chapter 55 of the laws of 2014, is amended to read as follows: (h) Suffolk County Deer of either sex long bow only Second Monday in November through [December] MARCH thirty-first S 2.
