BILL NUMBER: S2784 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the executive law, in relation to adding the Chenango river to the definition of inland waterways PURPOSE : To designate the Chenango River as an inland waterway for the purpose of the State's Coastal and Inland Waterways Program. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Section lamends paragraph (b) of subdivision 4 of section 911 of the executive law to expand the definition of "inland waterways" to include the Chenango River. Section 2 establishes an effective date. JUSTIFICATION : The Chenango River is an integral part of the Southern Tier. It flows through Madison, Chenango and Broome Counties. It begins in Madison County and flows for around 90 miles until it empties into the Susquehanna River in the City of Binghamton. By adding the Chenango River to the list of inland waterways, surrounding municipalities will be eligible to apply for state and federal funding to protect the river and restore adjacent

AKSHAR -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Finance AN ACT to amend the executive law, in relation to adding the Chenango river to the definition of inland waterways THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 4 of section 911 of the executive law, as sepa- rately amended by chapters 113 and 216 of the laws of 2016, paragraph (a) as separately amended by chapters 113, 193, 196, and 216 of the laws of 2016, and paragraph (c) as separately amended by chapters 113, 126, 154, 157, 175, 176, 214, 216, 217, and 227 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows: 4. "Inland waterways" shall mean (a) the state's major inland lakes consisting of lakes Ballston, Big Tupper, Black, Campfire, Canadarago, Canandaigua, Cayuga, Champlain, Charles, Chateaugay, Chautauqua, Cone- sus, Cranberry, Echo (in the county of Westchester), George, Glencoma, Great Sacandaga, Honeoye, Indian, Keuka, Little Wolf (in the county of Franklin), Lincolndale, Long, Lost (in the county of Putnam), Mirror, MacGregor, Mahopac, Oneida, Onondaga, Otisco, Otsego, Owasco, Peach, Placid, Putnam, Raquette, Ronkonkoma, Sacandaga, Saratoga, Schroon, Secor, Seneca, Shenorock, Skaneateles, Silver (in the county of Wyom- ing), Saranac and Tonetta, Teakettle Spout and Wixon, Simon (in the county of Franklin) and the Fulton chain of lakes; (b) the state's major rivers comprised of the Allegheny, Ausable, Battenkill, Black, Boquet, Bronx, Canisteo, Chaumont (including Chaumont bay), Chemung, CHENANGO, Cohocton, Delaware, Deer, Genesee, Grasse, Great Chazy, Hoosic, Hudson north of the federal dam at Troy, Indian, Little (in the Adirondack park), Little Ausable, Little Salmon (including north and south branch- es), Mad, Mettowee, Mohawk, Oswegatchie, Pocantico, Racquette, Sacanda- ga, Salmon, Saranac, Saw Mill, Schroon, Susquehanna, Tioga, Tioughnioga, Wallkill and Buffalo rivers, and the north and middle branches of the EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
