BILL NUMBER: S3522 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the highway law, in relation to the limitation on certain highway expenses in the town of Smithtown, Suffolk county PURPOSE : To increase the amount that the Town of Smithtown may spend for the purchase of stone crushers, power rollers, motor trucks, scarifiers, concrete mixers, traction engines or road machines for grading and scraping equipment, tools and other implements. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : This bill amends the subparagraph 1-e of paragraph a of subdivision 3 of § 271 of the Highway Law to increase the amount that the Town of Smithtown may spend for the purchase of stone crushers, power rollers, motor trucks, scarifiers, concrete mixers, traction engines or road machines for grading and scraping, equipment, tools and other implements. JUSTIFICATION : The Town of Smithtown has a population of approximately 116,000 people and has grown by approximately 3,000 in the past decade. The Town's

FLANAGAN -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the highway law, in relation to the limitation on certain highway expenses in the town of Smithtown, Suffolk county THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subparagraph 1-e of paragraph a of subdivision 3 of section 271 of the highway law, as added by chapter 500 of the laws of 1994, is amended to read as follows: (1-e) [Eight] ONE MILLION TWO hundred thousand dollars in the town of Smithtown in Suffolk county. § 2. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD07713-01-7
