BILL NUMBER: S4454 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to the registration of vintage snowmobiles PURPOSE : To exempt those sleds manufactured prior to 1980 from registration. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS : Amends subdivision 11 of section 2222 of the vehicle and traffic law by adding a new paragraph (d). JUSTIFICATION : The collecting and restoration of vintage sleds, has become a popular pastime in the snowmobile community. Exempting these sleds from registration will encourage this sector of the snowmobile community to grow. Compared to today's modern snowmobiles these sleds can only be ridden for a short few miles at any one time, or are featured in a limited way in shows and parades. Subdivision 11 of section 2222 of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by adding a new paragraph (d) to read as follows: (D) SNOWMOBILES MANUFACTURED BEFORE APRIL FIRST, NINETEEN HUNDRED EIGHTY. § 2.
