BILL NUMBER: S5814 TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend part AAA of chapter 59 of the laws of 2017 amending the vehicle and traffic law and other laws relating to the regulation of transportation network company services and establishing the New York State TNC Accessibility Task Force and the New York state transportation network company review board, in relation to the effectiveness thereof PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : Accelerates the effective date of part AAA of Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2017 by ten days to allow ride sharing over the Fourth of July weekend. SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Section 1 amends section 26 of part AAA of Chapter 59 of the Laws of 2017 to change the effective date from the ninetieth day to the eightieth day after it shall have become law. RANZENHOFER -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend part AAA of chapter 59 of the laws of 2017 amending the vehicle and traffic law and other laws relating to the regulation of transportation network company services and establishing the New York State TNC Accessibility Task Force and the New York state transporta- tion network company review board, in relation to the effectiveness thereof THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Section 26 of part AAA of chapter 59 of the laws of 2017 amending the vehicle and traffic law and other laws relating to the regulation of transportation network company services and establishing the New York State TNC Accessibility Task Force and the New York state transportation network company review board, is amended to read as follows: § 26. This act shall take effect on the [ninetieth] EIGHTIETH day after it shall have become a law; provided that the amendments to subdi- vision 1 of section 171-a of the tax law made by section fifteen of this act shall not affect the expiration of such subdivision and shall expire therewith, when upon such date the provisions of section sixteen of this act shall take effect; provided however that coverage provided pursuant to paragraph (b) of subdivision 1 of section 160-cc of the executive law as added by section eleven of this act shall be deemed repealed one year from the effective date of this act; provided, further, that any TNC driver permitted to operate prior to the repeal of such paragraph shall not see a reduction in coverage. § 2.
