BILL NUMBER: S7743 SPONSOR: SERINO TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the social services law, in relation to supplemental security income for eligible individuals receiving enhanced residential care PURPOSE: To increase the Social Security Income Rate adult care facilities receive in order to ensure that these services continue to be available to low income SSI recipients SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1: Amends paragraph (e) of subdivision 2 of section 209 of the social services law to increase the rate of SSI payments for eligible individuals receiving enhanced residential care in $4.00 per day incre- ments, the first of which takes place April 1, 2018, followed by increases on April 1 of 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022, for a total increase of $20.00 per day.

SERINO -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Social Services AN ACT to amend the social services law, in relation to supplemental security income for eligible individuals receiving enhanced residen- tial care THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Paragraph (e) of subdivision 2 of section 209 of the social services law, as amended by section 2 of part P of chapter 56 of the laws of 2017, is amended to read as follows: (e) (i) [On and after] (1) FROM January first, two thousand seventeen TO MARCH THIRTY-FIRST, TWO THOUSAND EIGHTEEN, for an eligible individual receiving enhanced residential care, $1,429.00; and [(ii)] (2) for an eligible couple receiving enhanced residential care, two times the amount set forth in [subparagraph (i)] CLAUSE ONE of this [paragraph] SUBPARAGRAPH. (II) (1) FROM APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND EIGHTEEN TO MARCH THIRTY- FIRST, TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN, FOR AN ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUAL RECEIVING ENHANCED RESIDENTIAL CARE, $1,549.00; AND (2) FOR AN ELIGIBLE COUPLE RECEIVING ENHANCED RESIDENTIAL CARE, TWO TIMES THE AMOUNT SET FORTH IN CLAUSE ONE OF THIS SUBPARAGRAPH. (III) (1) FROM APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND NINETEEN TO MARCH THIRTY- FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY, FOR AN ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUAL RECEIVING ENHANCED RESIDENTIAL CARE, $1,669.00; AND (2) FOR AN ELIGIBLE COUPLE RECEIVING ENHANCED RESIDENTIAL CARE, TWO TIMES THE AMOUNT SET FORTH IN CLAUSE ONE OF THIS SUBPARAGRAPH. (IV) (1) FROM APRIL FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY TO MARCH THIRTY-FIRST, TWO THOUSAND TWENTY-ONE, FOR AN ELIGIBLE INDIVIDUAL RECEIVING ENHANCED RESIDENTIAL CARE, $1,789.00; AND (2) FOR AN ELIGIBLE COUPLE RECEIVING ENHANCED RESIDENTIAL CARE, TWO TIMES THE AMOUNT SET FORTH IN CLAUSE ONE OF THIS SUBPARAGRAPH.
