BILL NUMBER: S8197 SPONSOR: BONACIC TITLE OF BILL: An act to amend the general city law, in relation to exempting the city of Middletown from application of certain provisions of law relating to licensing of plumbers PURPOSE: Exempts the City of Middletown from article four of the General City Law, which requires that a city maintain a board of plumbing examiners that is charged with the licensing of master plumbers authorized to do business in the city. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1:Amends subdivision 1 of section 57 of the General City Law to exempt the City of Middletown from article four of the General City Law, which requires that a city maintain a board of plumbing examiners that is charged with the licensing of master plumbers authorized to do busi- ness in the city.

BONACIC -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Cities AN ACT to amend the general city law, in relation to exempting the city of Middletown from application of certain provisions of law relating to licensing of plumbers THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Subdivision 1 of section 57 of the general city law, as amended by chapter 274 of the laws of 2016, is amended to read as follows: 1. This article shall not apply to any of the following cities: New York, Binghamton, Schenectady, Elmira, Beacon, Hornell, Olean, MIDDLE- TOWN and Poughkeepsie. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD15452-01-8
