GIANARIS -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Insurance AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to prohibiting the impo- sition of different rates for premiums for the provision of disability insurance THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. The insurance law is amended by adding a new section 3215-a to read as follows: § 3215-A. DISABILITY INSURANCE PREMIUM RATES. NO INSURER OFFERING OR PROVIDING INDIVIDUAL, GROUP OR BLANKET DISABILITY INSURANCE IN THIS STATE SHALL CHARGE, ESTABLISH OR IMPOSE DIFFERENT RATES FOR PREMIUMS FOR THE PROVISION OF SUCH INSURANCE ON THE BASIS OF THE GENDER OF THE INSURED OR INSUREDS. § 2. This act shall take effect on the thirtieth day after it shall have become a law, and shall apply to policies and contracts issued, renewed, modified, altered or amended on or after such date.
