BILL NUMBER: S5571 SPONSOR: LAVALLE TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to the designation of the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary Squad as an emergency rescue and first aid squad pursuant to the general municipal law and permitting members to display green lights on motor vehicles when engaged in emergency operation pursuant to the vehicle and traffic law PURPOSE: Designates the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary Squad (EHVOR) as an emergency rescue and first aid squad under Section 209-b of the General Municipal Law. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1. Authorizes the Town of East Hampton to designate EHVOR, by the adoption of a resolution by the Town Board, as an emergency rescue and first aid squad under Section 209-b of the General Municipal Law

THIELE -- read once and referred to the Committee on Local Governments AN ACT in relation to the designation of the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary Squad as an emergency rescue and first aid squad pursuant to the general municipal law and permitting members to display green lights on motor vehicles when engaged in emergency oper- ation pursuant to the vehicle and traffic law THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the town of East Hampton is hereby authorized to designate the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary Squad as an emergency rescue and first aid squad, by resolution of the town board, under section 209-b of the general municipal law. § 2. Where the town board of the town of East Hampton has made the designation authorized by section one of this act, members of the East Hampton Volunteer Ocean Rescue and Auxiliary Squad may display a green light on motor vehicles pursuant to paragraph 5 of subdivision 41 of section 375 of the vehicle and traffic law. § 3. This act shall take effect immediately. EXPLANATION--Matter in ITALICS (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted. LBD11133-01-9
