BILL NUMBER: S8632 Revised 6/29/2020 SPONSOR: STAVISKY TITLE OF BILL: An act in relation to permitting the education department to renew limited and provisional permits for an additional twelve months PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: To extend the State Education Department's authority to allow licensed professionals to practice under supervision while testing capabilities are unavailable during the pendency of the COVID-19 crisis. SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS: Section 1 of the bill provides that due to the state disaster emergency declaration declared by the governor pursuant to Executive Order 202, the department of education may renew limited and provisional permits for an additional twelve months for the professions enumerated in sections 6605, 6735, 6741-a, 6958, 7705, 7604, 7806, 8409, 8506, 8511,

STAVISKY -- read twice and ordered printed, and when printed to be committed to the Committee on Rules AN ACT in relation to permitting the education department to renew limited and provisional permits for an additional twelve months THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK, REPRESENTED IN SENATE AND ASSEM- BLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, due to the state disaster emergency declared by the governor pursuant to executive order 202, the department of education, in its discretion, may renew limited and provisional permits issued pursuant to sections 6605, 6735, 6741-a, 6958, 7705, 7604, 7806, 8409, 8506, 8511, 8608 and 8806 of the education law for an additional 12 months for good cause shown. § 2.
